New faces inside Amavubi bring hope to CHAN

Rwanda coach Johnny McKinstry has summoned nine new players to join the 32-man provisional squad already preparing for the 2016 Africa Nations Championship scheduled to be held in Rwanda from January 16 to February 7.

Amavubi started training on Wednesday after Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) called off the Azam Rwanda Premier League fixtures on Tuesday to give the national team ample time to fully prepare for the continental tournament.

The team will undergo a 10-day non-residential training camp at FERWAFA grounds. Players will attend training sessions every day until December 18, when they will take a one-week Christmas break.

New faces include; Dany Usengimana (Police FC), Muhadjir Hakizimana (Mukura VS), a younger brother of Amavubi skipper Haruna Niyonzima, Fiston Munezero (Rayon Sports), Alexis Ngirimana (SC Kiyovu), Jean Paul Havugarurema (SC Kiyovu) Djuma Nizeyimana (SC Kiyovu), while Rachid Kalisa (Police FC) returns for the second time.

Others, who have played for Amavubi after the just concluded CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, are; Marcel Nzarora (Police FC), Mwemere Girinshuti (Police FC), Mohammed Mushimiyimana (Police FC), Amran Nshmiyimana (Police FC),

Kevin Muhire (Rayon Sports) was in the CECAFA squad but did not play any game, same as APR defender, Emery Bayisenge.

After the, Christmas break, the team will resume training untilJanuary 11 before the final 23-man squad to represent Rwanda is announced.

McKinstry has maintained most of the players who featured in the just concluded CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in Ethiopia, where Rwanda lost to Uganda (1-0) in the final.
